Introduction:
The five senior lecturers and three staff members of the Department teach and organise a wide range of educational activities in the fields of botany, mycology and zoology, wildlife management, dog breeding, human ecology, bioethics, nature and landscape conservation and sustainability. The department oversees the Georgikon Botanical Garden, founded in 1813, where, in addition to educational demonstration areas, ex situ gene conservation is also carried out. Since 1991, we have been providing significant conservation education, being the first in the country to offer continuous professional training for engineers, and later to care for and teach the Bachelor and Master of Conservation Engineering.
The Department is also home to the Landscape and People Club, which has been running a rich programme since 2011 and has been popular on campus and in the city through presentations organised with students (http://tajesember.hu/). Our students are also intensively involved in our research, and several nationally awarded TDK theses and doctoral dissertations are evidence of our commitment to talent management. Two of the department's faculty members have a total of 13 PhD students (5 of them with co-thesis supervisors).
