Introduction:
In their research and teaching activities, the faculty members serve the preservation and protection of natural values, the demonstration of the necessary (and at the same time healthy food producing) farming, and the presentation of the sustainability approach in everyday life. Our courses provide the skills needed to protect the environment and nature, to mitigate the effects of climate change and to halt biodiversity loss, as a global priority, with a values-based approach, identifying the root causes of problems and developing solutions through a holistic approach. Students and faculty in the department's related disciplines work for an economy and society that not only uses the landscape and the natural environment, but also conserves and enriches it to the best of its potential, and works together to protect its values.
The department attaches great importance to the education of young people and to the professional development of students (scientific student groups, competitions, Young Ranger Programme, etc.). The scientific journal Landscape Ecology Papers, which the department has been publishing since 2003, helps to achieve this.
